In my 3 month stay with ustwo New York I had the opportunity to combine my enthusiasm for design & sustainability by organising the Design Jam for the Circular Economy. I initiated and organised the Design Jam to raise awareness for environmental issues, and connect to young talent in the New York design community. On Saturday, January 25 we welcomed over 25 young creatives – from Parsons, the School of Visual Arts and Columbia University to name a few – into the studio to spend a full day engaging with real world use cases. Jamming, learning, collaborating and creating design solutions for Ecovative, KeepCup and Seamless. With thanks to Leo Gomez, who designed all the promotion materials, Andrea, and team leads on the day; Kelani, Paul, Angeliki and Alejandra.

Find real, relevant challenges, from recycling, to repair and reuse, and offerings of products as a service. Five teams with a total of 25 young creatives spent a full day solving real world use cases with design thinking. All promotional material was designed by a UI colleague.

Clarifying briefs, structuring creative process, managing attendance versus amount of use cases

An inspiring day of creative thinking, and engaging with real and relevant environmental solutions. Connecting ustwo with young talent.
